Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs about BGN
1. What is BGN?BGN is the premier global network of professionals with struggling or declining businesses. It is multi-disciplinary. Its members are leading players in their own markets and have an international outlook, which reflects the increasingly global nature of business.
2. What can BGN do for my firm?
All members have access to the technical expertise of the network and its members. We believe that this will generate work referrals from overseas and that it will allow members to market more effectively and win more work from their existing clients.
3. How do we access this expertise?
As a member, you will be given access to our online directory of members, which gives names and contact information, as well as details of each member’s area of expertise. Additionally, the association’s Secretariat will be happy to assist you with finding the necessary contacts and information should you require further information or help.
The Secretariat can be reached on +44 (0) 207 398 3800 or by email at secretariat@bgn.com.
4. What are the main benefits of BGN?
BGN focuses on making available international expertise for the clients of its members and other stakeholders who need assistance with stressed and distressed businesses.
In addition to the potential for work referral between members, the association markets its members’ professional skills to a wide range of potential work sources.
Members also have access to marketing expertise, education and training programmes and member-only conferences for themselves and their clients. We provide many opportunities for international and regional networking.
All of this is available to members without any loss of independence.
5. How will our service to clients be improved through membership of BGN?
The networking itself will give you many opportunities to enhance your firm’s growth. You can use the BGN brand to convince your clients that you have international expertise, winning work which they would otherwise not give to you.
6. What will BGN mean to our clients?
Your clients will recognise you as a member of the premier global association for professionals working with stressed and distressed businesses, adding to your profile in your own markets and assisting you to retain and win clients who have international requirements.
At the same time, you will retain your independence and the ability to offer the personal approach and the cost-effective high quality service, which larger multi-national firms often cannot provide.
7. Should we use the BGN logo on all of our firm’s materials (like letterheads, business cards, advertising, etc)?
Yes, we require that as a minimum, all members put a simple standard statement confirming their membership of BGN and our logo on all their public documents.
Our members tell us that doing so has resulted in getting new business and creating additional opportunities with existing clients. BGN will provide you with appropriate electronic versions of artwork for your printer or marketing agency for this purpose.
8. Do we have to refer work to other BGN members?
No, we recognise that our members have existing relationships which are important to them in their own and overseas markets.
Despite this, we hope that wherever possible you will consider referring your work within the association, provided that our member is capable of providing the service required and that your client has not stipulated that another firm should be used.
There are no mandatory referral fees, but we encourage members to agree some form of referral fee with their fellow members, provided that local laws and regulations do not prohibit this.
We hope that we have answered your questions about membership of BGN, but if not please take a minute to explore the rest of our website or contact our Secretariat for further information. We are confident that you will see the benefits of membership of our worldwide association.
